Zinc electrowinning mainly produce LME Zn-CATH-1 zinc cathode from ZnSO4 or Ammonium electrolyte. Modern plant of zinc electro-winning usually consists of electrolyte circulating system, electrolysis current supply, zinc cathode conveying system and automation control system.
The electrolyte circulating system refers to electrolyte purification, defluorination and dechlorination, and electrolyte transportation. To ensure zinc cathode quality, impurities in zinc sulfate solution have to be removed to the maximum extent .
Zinc electro-winning is the process of electro-deposition of zinc metal on the cathode plate from zinc sulfate solution by applying electrolysis voltage. The electrolysis current system consists of recti-transformer, conducting busbar, electrolytic cell, anode and cathode, electrolyte and current controller. These are the basis of supplying current for electrolysis. After a plating circle, zinc cathode is obtained so the anode and cathode transportation system is involved to perform lifting, washing, stripping, stacking and packing. The anode also needs to be straightened after a plating circle.
The electrowinning workshop is equipped with such machine as anode washing and flattening machine, automatic multifunctional crane, zinc cathode washing & striping and conveying machine, Al-cathode plate brushing and preparing machine, short-circuit monitoring system, etc. The whole system is governed by central control computer for mutual coordination.
