Copper Rod Upward Casting

An upward copper rod casting machine usually is equipped with several crystallizer to shape the copper product. By using different crystallizers, a variety of copper products like copper rod, tube and bar of different dimension, irregular copper product and copper alloy casting blank can be produced. The system is flexible in capacity by setting the quantity of crystallizers.

The upward casting method has the built-in advantage in producing oxygen-free copper rod. During the process of melting, charcoal is used as the reduction agent to decrease the oxygen in molten copper (to less than 10ppm) and graphite
flakes cover the copper liquid surface throughout the liquid copper transferring from melting furnace to casting port and crystallization.


Characteristics

(1) Melting furnace is designed in the rectangular for large size copper cathode feeding.
(2) The melting furnace and casting furnace is connected by underflow pathway to allow copper liquid to pass through.
(3) The induction furnace is designed with non-uniform melting groove to speed up copper molten flow, reducing melting time and avoiding slag clogging.
(4) The inductor can be dismantled for maintenance.
(5) The drawing of copper rod is driven by PLC-controlled servo motor. The drawing frequency are adjustable to match with different copper rod diameter.
(6) Automation control. The copper molten temperature, liquid level, cooling water data, drawing frequency are measured and monitored for automatic coordination. Human interference is greatly reduced to ensure stable quality and high product efficiency.
