In worldwide the secondary lead recycling has outweighted lead production from raw ore. Application of lead is centralized on lead acid battery (approx. 80%). The current hot topic of secondary lead industry is how to recycle the spent lead acid battery (SLAB) in the manner of energy conservation, high efficiency and environment protection.
In terms of SLAB recycling, Metalcess provides a complete treating system includes the following steps:
1. Preliminary crushing to remove acid;
2. Secondary crushing, vibrating screen to separate lead paste, hydro-separator to separate PP scrap/heavy plastic scrap/ lead grid;
3. Lead paste (PbSO4) desulphurization or directly smelting with SO2 absorption;
4. Desulphurization solution (Na2SO4) purification (heavy metal removal), crystallization, waste water recycle;
5. Lead paste(PbCO3) fire –refining;
6. Lead grid melting/refining/casting;
SLABs are usually from motorcycle, car, truck and etc. The recycling system can treat the batteries with or without AGM plate. The final products are lead and lead alloy ingot/PP scrap/heavy plastic scrap and Na2SO4 crystal.
