The copper rod continuous casting and rolling (CCR) system uses shaft furnace for continuous melting and heat holding furnace for buffer and constant volume casting. The copper rod is hot-rolled and then surface treatment for cooling and reduction. The system can use electrowon copper cathode or high grade copper scrap (≥99.5) as raw material to directly get electrical grade copper rod, from which copper scrap is highly efficient recycled.
It usually consists of shaft furnace with pre-mix combustion system, heat holding furnace, five wheel casting machine, forward traction roller shears, direct shaper cutter, continuous rolling machine, drying and waxing machine and winding machine.
Shaft Furnace
The shaft furnace works as a melting furnace in copper rod CCR system because of its instant melting effect achieved by the highly centralized flame heating area and high thermal efficiency.
The copper material is carried by a tipping trolley ascending to the furnace door and then discharged to the furnace cylinder. The descending copper material is heated up by the rising off-gas. In the furnace hearth, copper is molten into liquid quickly at the centralized flame heating area in the furnace hearth.

Continuous Casting and Rolling
The casting machine consists of copper liquid intermediate ladle, water-cooling copper casting wheel, steel belt unit (2 idler wheels, 2 tension wheels), cooling unit (bottom cooling and side cooling), graphite lubrication and drive unit.
The rolling machine has the main parts rollers driven by gearbox. Horizontal roller and vertical roller are in alternative arrangement. Copper casting is clamped by pneumatic cylinder and directly fed into CCR rolling machine, going through the horizontal and vertical rollers.
