Stainless Steel Cathode

Permanent stainless steel cathodes, as the replacement of starting sheet, now is widely used for the electrowinning and electro-refining of copper hydrometallurgical extraction.

Permanent stainless steel cathode consists of stainless steel plate, conducting bar and edge strips.

1. Stainless Steel Plate

Thickness: 3±0.2mm, Service lifetime: 10 plus years, corrosion & bending resistance, Surface roughness: 0.16-0.60Ra (as per ASTM)

2. Conducting Bar

Stainless steel-clad copper, by extrusion and rolling, straightness≤1mm/m, conductivity V≤12.5mv (current density 270A/m2), copper is fully covered by steel for anti-corrosion except one end being exposed for conductivity.

3. Edge Strips

Material: Polypropylene, suitable for copper electro-refining working environment, able to withstand high temperature, high acidity, alternating cooling and heating, mechanical flexure and aging.Service lifetime more than 2 years.

Description

Stainless steel plate outperforms starting sheet because of the following characteristics:

(1) 100 mm homo polar distance and up to 370 A/melectricity current density.

(2) 4-6 days plating circle, shortening the time of copper in cell and guarantees copper cathode quality.

(3) Uniform electricity current distribution resulting uniform dissolution of anode, reduce the anode scrap rate to 12-16%.
